Conductor / Musical Director
Marc Easener
Marc studied with James Gourlay at the London College of Music, leaving in 1987 to become a founding member of the Albion Brass Consort. Since then Marc has freelanced with many orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, English National Opera, Northern Ballet Theatre, National Theatre, and the West End musical Chicago.
His solo work has included the recently released world premiere recording of the John Williams Tuba Concerto, London performances of the concertos by Edward Gregson and Ralph Vaughan Williams, and a live television broadcast of the Romanian premiere of "Tubby the Tuba". Marc has also branched out into conducting, working both as Musical Director of the Epping Forest Band and as guest conductor with the Foundation Philharmonic.
Principal cornet
Roy Frost
Roy started playing at thirteen in the Boy's Brigade. After two years Roy was picked by Frank Wright to play a solo at one of Frank's massed Brass Band concerts at the Royal Albert hall. From then on Roy realized that if he worked hard enough he could be a reasonable player. After the B.B Roy played in a dance band for a while then had a chance meeting with a member of the Newham band, after passing the audition, was asked to play third cornet.
Roy stayed with Aveley and Newham Band for thirteen happy years playing mainly back row, as well as a short time on soprano. After Newham he had a rest until Lin (his wife) told hi to go and join another band that band was Walthamstow co-op. They asked him to play principal after a couple of months and Roy enjoyed twelve successful years with them, gaining promotion from the fourth section to the second.
In 1990 I joined Epping Forest Band and have been here ever since and still enjoying playing. I also help other bands out and have done solo work for the various organisations in the Hertford area.
